Mike Klein
Manager of Architecture
Mike graduated in 1984 with a bachelor's degree in architecture from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. After graduation he worked for several architectural firms on the east coast before joining big-box retailers Target Co. and Best Buy Co., Inc. in 1993 and 1998, respectively. In 2002 Mike was hired by the Ingersoll-Rand Security Center, and in 2006 joined Store Design Services as the manager of architecture. Mike is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) as well as a New Jersey state registered architect.
Growing up in the suburbs just north of New York City, the Manhattan skyline made a lasting impression on Mike. "I love the skyscrapers from the first half of the 20th century, with their classic setbacks, towering spires, and unique personalities," Mike says, "Of all these, my absolute favorite is the Chrysler Building with its elegant Art Deco style; it defines an age of optimism and energy."
In his free time Mike enjoys watching ER, reruns of The West Wing , and any movie starring his favorite actor, Robert DeNiro. Mike also enjoys the experience of shopping at a good antique store, which he describes as "filled with unexpected finds and surprises - mixed in with kitschy junk and bits of history from people and families unknown. It's a treasure hunt."
