Harry Steen

Creative Manager

Harry graduated in 1981 with a bachelor of fine arts (BFA) degree from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. In 1986 Harry was hired by Rainbow Foods to serve as advertising director, a position he held until joining Store Design Services in 2000. Harry's work in the grocery industry has earned him numerous national awards, most recently in 2006 when his vision for the Highland Park Market of South Windsor, CT helped the store win NASFM's Grocery Store of the Year award.

Harry's favorite design style is the Arts and Crafts motif, particularly the organic architectural stylings of American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. "The way he was able to create built environments that relate so closely to their surrounding contexts, while satisfying the needs of the client - and to integrate that vision down to the smallest detail - was simply masterful."

In his free time Harry enjoys spending time on the lake during the summer, and downhill skiing during Minnesota's more brisk months. Harry also enjoys catching old Hollywood flicks from the 1960s and 1970s because, as he says, "Those were the golden days, baby."
